It is Friday again and I am planning my Sunday 16 Oct ride! For a change I decide to visit Dhanori to check the status of my plot and then go gallivanting around. I log on to google maps and plot a route, from home to fergusson college, wakdewadi, holkar bridge, vishrantwadi, Dhanori, Lohegaon, Nagar road, Magarpatta , Camp, Swargate, Sinhagad road, back home. On map it turned out to be a good 60+ km - ideal for a 3+ hr ride.
I start at 0600hrs and am in vishrant wadi by 0700hrs. The ride is pleasant with cool air to refresh the body. The ride to Dhanori and then to Lohegaon was a quiet one with hardly any traffic. The stretch around the airport was particularly great with good road and almost no traffic. uptill now there was hadly any incline. This stretch of about 2km was followed by another good stretch from airport to Nagar road. This was a new road , a double lane in good condition with some posh colonies on either side. From the Nagar road I was to get on the Mundhwa road. As I had forgotton to take the map along I asked some people who guided me to a less crowded road which would join up with Mundhwa road. Soon I was crossing Magarpatta city area. Here without the map I was totally lost, so a couple of enquiries later I decided to head towards Camp. Had a chat with a house painter who gave me company for some distance before I took off ahead.
The clock showed past 0800hrs and the sun was warming up. At the turn after CDA I headed for Swargate. The morning traffic had begun to swell. I hit Sinhagad Road and headed for Rajaram bridge. I reached back to base at around 0920 hrs.
The ride overall was an easy and enjoyable one as there was almost no gradient. The weather played up admirably making the ride a pleasant one, and not burning me out. But the best part was the sightseeing of parts of pune which I had not seen in ages. The roads are definitely improving in most parts.
Now the problem of going on my next ride without repeating the routes. I guess it has to be Alandi -Bhosariand back route. Lets see when it occurs.
