It is Tuesday as I have taken a days leave, I decide to go down Pirangut Ghat and cycle up the ghat, something I had missed out when I had gone to Mula Khind and Yogesh had gone to Pirangut. I had a slight apprehension whether I would make it so early after the Balaji trip - physically. Sangeeta asks me if it is necessary? I tell her that when a few guys think my idea is crazy then that is precisely the thing I want to do. This was related to me by an ENT surgeon from Nasik during the Balaji Temple trip and I agreed with him wholeheartedly. I decide to go alone this time as it is time saving. I take off at 0600hrs.
The start of the descent
The weather is just made for cycling with a slight nip in the air. The Chandani Chowk ascent as usual gets me warmed up and sweating! I reach the top of the ghat in about 45 min. The only climb before it was the one after Manas Lake which required me to put the 1st gear. I start down the slope with caution as the last thing I wanted is to go into a pothole at high speed. The slope is not as much as one at Chandani Chowk and the distance is about 3 km. Reach down in a few minutes with 47kmph being the top speed with the brakes working overtime. I enter Pirangut and turn back to tackle the ascent. The slope is not difficult. I go through on 2nd gear with an eye on the km reading. The last half a km are tough with the first gear, but I manage to complete the ascent. I click a few snaps to show the elevation. After that it was a pleasure ride and I reach back in 30 minutes. Not bad for a weekday excursion!
